-- Andrew Fillipponi (@ThePoniExpress) December 20, 2020Amanda and I would like to introduce you to Geno. He is our miracle baby that we thought we would never have after struggling for three years to conceive.
Last month we found out he had a heart defect. On 12.10 he was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
In layman's terms the left side of his heart was extremely tiny. Anxiety and stress about the hardship our little guy was about to suffer through was overwhelming but there was hope. Pittsburgh is well respected for its pediatric cardiology care. After our cardiology appointment last week, we were cautiously optimistic.

One of the best feelings in the world is feeling your baby move. Whether it is for the mom inside or the dad outside. Last week, that feeling stopped for us. We knew something was wrong. We immediately scheduled a doctors appointment. Once there, we got the horrible news that his little heart that was going to shine was no longer beating.
That day we were sent to Jefferson Hospital to deliver. It was a long, hard night. One 12/18, at 26 weeks, we delivered our handsome Geno William. HE looked just like his dad and had the longest hands and feet.
We couldn't stop looking at him. We thought it was going to be the worst day of our lives but it was one of the best days because we got to hold our son.
We had a kind nurse Bethany, an amazing OBGYN Dr. David Deitrick, and the support of our bereavement doula Heather Bradley which made the day less painful.
He will always be with us. Geno made us a mommy and daddy.
Our sweet angel baby. In these extremely hard times it is comforting to know that we have friends and family here to support us.

Andrew is one of the hardest workers in the business and has a passion for what he does. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his wife, friends and family during this difficult time.
Geno truly was a miracle baby, Andrew and his wife spent almost three years trying to conceive and had all but given up when they learned that they were finally expecting.
